Dudayev Envoy Offers Apologies To Kadyrov

A Chechen who worked as an envoy for the late separatist leader Dzhokhar Dudayev has returned to Chechnya and offered apologies to Ramzan Kadyrov, the current antiseparatist and pro-Moscow Chechen leader.
Khizri Aldamov, who was Dudayev’s envoy to Georgia, appeared with Kadyrov on Chechen television and said he “fully repented” for “mistakes” during the separatist war against Moscow’s rule in the North Caucasus.Dudayev declared Chechen independence from Russia in 1991 and led separatists in the first Chechen war, until his death in a Russian missile strike in 1996.In his remarks, Kadyrov urged the prominent London-based Chechen separatist figure Akhmad Zakayev to also return to Chechnya and publicly embrace Kadyrov’s leadership.

Kadyrov denounced Zakayev as a “puppet” of foreign intelligence services and a “bad actor.”
